Hudson Culinary Arts Department Course Expectations 2021-2022
Cell Phone Policy
Hudson Culinary Arts classes will follow the Hudson High School cell phone policy.
Cell phones are allowable in the halls in between classes and at lunch. Due to our shortened class times of 50 minutes, we will need to utilize every minute of class and cannot risk distraction and contamination. For the safety of our students, cell phones will not be allowed in class. If they are seen, they will be confiscated and turned into the front office and will be charged a fine. Cell phone usage in the kitchen is in direct violation of the health code under Angelina County health district. We are inspected by the Angelina County Health District and can be inspected at any time during the school year.
Bathroom breaks during class
Due to our shortened class times of 50 minutes, we will need to utilize every minute of class and instructional time, especially in our kitchen/lab setting. Please know students will need to use the bathroom before and after class. Unless there is an emergency, please understand students need to be in class during class time.
Locks and Lockers
Students are required to purchase a key lock or combination lock for their assigned locker. The culinary kitchens do not have a locker room, so school lockers must be utilized in the hallways. Each student must have an individual locker, keep it locked when not in use, and store their chef coat and/or apron, and chef hat. Student items are not to be stored anywhere in the culinary kitchens or office except for their locker. Student items such as expensive jewelry, backpacks, school work, cell phones, and athletic equipment must be stored in their locker or another location (such as their gym locker). We cannot be responsible for each students’ personal belongings being stolen and/or lost.
Uniforms
Students must wear proper safety and sanitation gear when working in the kitchen. Students must wear closed toed, non-slip shoes, a chef hat, a chef coat or an apron in the kitchen. These must be stored in their locker when not in use.
Google Hangouts
Students and teachers must be able to communicate easily. Instead of other text messaging apps, Google Hangouts is a communication tool approved by Hudson ISD so that a teacher and student can communicate. Advanced Culinary students will use this application most often to communicate with the teacher. Please download the app on your cell phone. Our department caters on and off-site events therefore students will need a quick way to communicate with the teacher.
Food Allergies
Please make us aware of your child's food allergies.
