Foundations of Personal Fitness - Individual/Team Sports Syllabus

2019-2020

 

Description: Students are expected to participate in a variety of Individual/Team sports. Learning sports related skills, rules, motor development as well as the social behaviors that are expected in sports. Students will gain an understanding of basic anatomy as well as, weight room etiquette and skills.

 

Goal: is for the students to learn health related fitness activities beyond High School.  

 

Class Rules

  1. Dress Appropriately - Students are expected to follow the Student Handbook Dress Code. Athletic shoes and comfortable clothes are recommended.
  2.  Be on Time – Students are expected to be dressed and in their appropriate spot for roll call, five minutes after the tardy bell.
  3. Participation – Student are required to participate in any activities or games that are being taught or instructed. Only exceptions are if student has an approved doctor’s note or health reason discussed with the teacher prior to instruction.
  4. Be Respectful – Students are expected to show respect to the teacher/substitute and other students. Inappropriate language will result in disciplinary action.

Gym Rules

  1. Use all equipment appropriately. Students are NOT allowed to get any equipment out of the storage room without permission from teacher/sub.
  2. Do NOT leave the gym without permission from the teacher/sub. (Bathroom, water, or getting dressed)
  3. Phones, iPods, any electronic device are subject to Student Handbook rules. Students can use devices with permission from teacher/sub.

Grading    

Daily Grades

  • Participation – 80%
  • Behavior – 20%

Test Grades depend on certain sections throughout the school year. All tests have different criteria.
