Only weeks into the school year the Art Club is already busy with many projects.

“We get asked to do many different kinds of artwork for various organizations.” According to Art Club sponsor, Cheryl Lamon. “Currently, we are painting for the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department's Haunted House, and we have been asked to transform a local residence's butane tank into a hornet.

In addition to these projects, the club is also planning two holiday-themed Painting Parties. These events are fundraisers for an annual trip to visit the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. Teachers are invited to paint a festive picture with the help of skilled Art Club members and Mrs. Lamon.

“We hold two annual painting parties for our teachers, and for anyone in the community that wants to join” Continued Mrs. Lamon, “Our goal for holding these parties is to raise the necessary funds that allow us to visit the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston... Some of the paintings that we see each year are part of their permanent display… and each year we get to see different artists from all over the world”

To the students in Art Club, it is an important aspect of their school year, and high school would be much different without it.

“This is my third year in Art Club and I’m really excited.” An anonymous officer said. “I’ve built close friendships the past two years. This year I really feel like I am going to be even more successful.”

There is a sign-up sheet outside Mrs. Lamon’s room for anyone that is interested in joining.
