Zaher and Nguyen Represent Hudson at Academic UIL State

Tarek Zaher (junior) competed in the State UIL (University Interscholastic League) meet in Current Issues and Events on May 26-28 and placed 5th out of 29 competitors.

“Tarek placed 5th with a score of 37, earning Hudson High School 6 points at the state meet.” Patrick Largent, Hudson’s UIL coordinator, said.

Thien Nguyen (freshmen) competed in the State UIL (University Interscholastic League) meet in Spelling and Vocabulary on May 26-28 and placed 7th out of 25 competitors.

“He was only 5 points away from first place in very stiff competition.” Largent said.

Nguyen had to spell 100 words and understand the definitions for a multiple choice section.

“There are 3,263 public schools and approximately 5,000,000 students in the Texas schools.”Largent said, “Competitors at the state meet represent the best from all public schools in Texas. I am very proud of how well our UIL competitors have done.”
