“ National Honor Society is an organization that strongly empathizes community service. I hope that this value is energized in the minds of old and new members and expressed effectively throughout this year,” senior Kristen Ferrara, NHS’s secretary.

National Honor Society helps open the minds of high school students to the wonderful world of helping out the local community. Members of NHS volunteer at local shelters and businesses to help a busy person through the day and are rewarded with the great sense of accomplishment and honor. National Honor Society officers were inducted in an officer ceremony on May 19. The following officers will be conducting meetings and planning for a great year.

 Kristina Johnson, president

Wade Penn, vice president

Grace Elliott, vice president of community service

Lauren Glass, treasurer

Kristen Ferrara, secretary

Lauren Slusher, parliamentarian

“ This year, we are looking for members who are really passionate about truly serving our community,” says Lauren Slusher, NHS parliamentarian.

NHS officers have high expectations for all members but especially for new members. Officers are already working on projects and service hours for the members to do this year.

“ We as officers are already organizing community service projects and the members are regularly turning in volunteer hours,” says Wade Penn, NHS vice president.

National Honor Society’s officers are determined to come together as a group and make a bigger difference in the world than ever before.
