If you like free food, door prizes, and fun times, Hudson Gets Healthy is right up your alley. The event is Thursday, October 6th from 5:30 to 7:30 in the Hornet Gym, which is the gym on the middle school campus.

Shalana Hyde RN D.O.N said, “Hudson Gets Healthy is a community wide event for all ages, the purpose of which is to help promote healthy lifestyles and connect community organizations to our public. There are so many organizations out there that most do not realize are available to help our community.”

The event was organized by Hyde and the nursing department. In addition, members of Hudson Helps, a middle school organization, will be volunteering their time and assisting throughout the endurance of the program.

Hyde feels there are many reasons students should attend the event. She listed, “Free to enter! Free food! Free samples from vendors which include Orange Leaf, Complete Nutrition, and many more. Awesome door prizes!!! (Bikes for all ages given out, sports related giveaways, gift cards to local companies such as Academy Sports and Outdoors, many other neat things.) Must be present to win.”

As stated, students and community members who attend the event will have the opportunity to win door prizes AND free food will be available. Although attractive, these perks do not outweigh the fundamental purpose of the event.

Hyde hopes Hudson Gets Healthy will “connect the families to new community organizations which will help them in their daily lives, provide some insight to why a healthy lifestyle is important, and promote healthy choices.”
