And We are Off….to a New Year

Lockers slam shut, feet shuffle down the hallway, and teachers call out to one another across the corridor. Students file into their assigned classrooms and take their seats, dropping their bags by their desks. The bell trills, signaling the end of the five minute intermission between classes and the teachers close their doors, greeting their class with a smile.

It’s back to school season, a time filled with new clothes and school supplies. Students across the nation are returning to campus with a fresh determination to learn.

“I’m excited for this year because I’ll be taking some good classes that will teach me things that will be important in life,” Reese Bocock, senior, said. “I’m ready to make good grades, try and apply for colleges, graduate, and get out in the real world.”

When asked what she was looking forward to in the 2015-2016 school year Emma Godfrey had this to say. “I’m just really excited to see where this cross country season takes us,” Godfrey, senior and Cross Country State Qualifier, said, “I’m ready to head back to State Cross Country in Austin and do really well.”

The teachers have also returned after a fulfilling summer break prepared to impart their wisdom to the next generation.

“The principles have been encouraging us [Hudson teachers] to do more interdisciplinary things so I expect exciting things to happen this year and for our students to achieve great things because of what the teachers have planned.” Emily Meisel, English teacher, said.

Hudson Instructors are geared up to teach returning students course curriculum and skills they will use later in life to succeed.

“My hope for this year is to prepare our students to succeed in UIL, AP World History, college, furthering opportunities for their future careers, and in life,” Patrick Largent, History teacher, said, “It appears that these are all different in scope but in reality they are all the same.”

The new 2015-2016 school year is off to a great start and Hudson students are expecting nothing but great things from now on.
