Students come together for Faith and Fun at FCA

The shuffling of feet scuffing against the gym floor echoed through the wide open space as the soft murmur of prayer ended with a chorus of ‘Amen’. Bowed heads lifted as snacks made their way through the crowd of people. Laughter reverberated through the room as the students relaxed in the easy atmosphere to find companionship with their fellow athletes.

FCA, or Fellowship of Christian Athletes, meets every Thursday from 7 to 8:30 in the Auxiliary Gym on the middle school campus. Approximately 50 Hudson athletes are members of this club.

“FCA is an organization to help students in school tell others about how Christ can work in their life and help them become better athletes and better students.” Suzanne Ratcliff, FCA sponsor, said, “At the meetings on Thursday evenings students have a time of fun and fellowship and play games then we have someone give a devotional.”

Anyone is welcome to attend the meetings but the club is specifically directed toward athletes.

“FCA is a place where athletes from a ton of different sports who love God and want to serve God better in their sports and in their classes can come together to hang out, have food, fellowship, and fun.” Holly Ratcliff, FCA member, said, “It’s a great support group, it’s a great way to meet friends who get what you’re going through.”

Members can look forward to several activities throughout the year in addition to their regularly scheduled entertainment featuring food, volleyball, and great fellowship.

“FCA is in charge of See You At The Pole this year.” Suzanne Ratcliff said, “We also will be doing a retreat at some point this year.”

Returning members greatly encourage prospective students to come and join FCA.

“It’s fun.” Jesse Cravy, returning FCA member, said, “I like the people and the adults. It’s just a fun place to be.”

“Members can look forward to great friendships, and great relationships formed.” Holly Ratcliff said, “It’s a great place to go have fun and make some really good friends.”
