Introduction to the Course:
Course Description: Students will study the basic economic terminology and compare various economic systems, with a focus on free enterprise and examine the impact of savings and investment on the availability of capital resources. Additionally students will study and explore the impact of taxes, government regulation and international trade on the Business Cycle. To succeed in using knowledge of economics skills related to acquiring and obtaining jobs will be examined.
Credit: ½ Credit
This course is a requirement for graduation and is a stand alone social studies subject – no other grade can be averaged with this grade.

Basic Economic Terms
Economic Systems
Supply and Demand
2nd Nine Weeks:
Personal Finance and the Flow of Capital
The Federal Reserve, Monetary and Fiscal Policy and the Business Cycle
Business Entities
International Trade
Additional material will be covered relating to current economic issues.

Introduction to the Course:
Course Description: Students will study the purposes, principles, and practices of American government as established by the Constitution. Students are expected to understand their rights and responsibilities as citizens and how to exercise these rights and responsibilities in local, state, and national government. Students will learn the structure and processes of the government of the state of Texas and various local governments.
Additionally the State of Texas requires all students undertake a study of appropriate interactions with law enforcement officials and be tested.
