NHS Students volunteer

National Honor Society students are volunteering to make the community a better place. The students have volunteered at the Pregnancy Help Center, Junior League of Lufkin’s Touch-a-Truck event and are helping with Hearts of Hope banquet for the Mosaic Center. Service is one of the four pillars National Honor Society is built on. 

Teachers at Hudson High School put their words into action by volunteering at Buckner Family Place on Monday, Dec. 17. The teachers helped hang clothes, sort socks, prepare manuals, organize books and assemble furniture for the daycare. We consistently tell students about the importance of volunteering in the community. The best way to show it is to get out there and do some volunteering. Teachers also donated and assembled baskets for students in the district in honor of their principals.

TAFE students attend a Maverick’s game. Texas Association of Future Educators sponsored a speaker series for future educators that included students attending a Maverick’s game at the conclusion. Speakers included  Michael Hinojosa, Dallas ISD Superintendent. Dr. Hinojosa spoke on the importance of educators to put family first, job and then the community in which you live.
