Hey seniors! College is right around the corner, and now is the perfect time to start researching scholarships! With the cost of college on the rise, it is important to find any and all scholarships you can. Scholarships are sums of money that donors (and sometimes Universities themselves) put up for students that meet certain criteria. Unlike loans, they do not have to be paid back, and unlike grants, they are not intrinsically linked to financial need. They are a great way to cut down on the long-term costs of higher education.
Here at Hudson, we have a plethora of resources at our disposal. The best place here at school to find scholarships is at the Go Center. Mrs. Sims has binders, books, and pamphlets (oh my!) that all contain possible scholarship opportunities.
“There are numerous resources that begin in the Go Center,” Sims said, “but that is by no means where they end.”
As Mrs. Sims alluded, there are many other places to find scholarships. Most are pretty standard, but some get kind of wild! There are scholarships for being tall, short, red-headed, and nearly every other characteristic.
Most of these more out-of-the-way scholarship opportunities are easiest to find online. These are some of the ones that Mrs. Sims recommended.
