Students in 7th and 8th grade choir, good news! Two of the pieces we will be taking to UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest have practice tracks available online. Once you are assigned a part, please listen to these tracks to help learn your music more quickly. The sooner we get notes learned, the sooner we can begin polishing and really making the music shine.
The Captain’s Mate
Part 1: Note… I will probably only have a couple of students singing the high note at the very end, so please plan to sing a lower pitch unless I specifically ask you to sing the high note. Thanks! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09QRVW-Lp-8
Note: After you click on the link below, scroll down until you see that tab that says “part by part.” Click on that, then click on the arrow to play your part for “The Butterfly,” either soprano or alto.
Also… while these recordings are wonderful learning tools, they are not perfect. When the singers here sing the word “work,” they pronounce it “werrrrrk.” You know doggone well that that won’t fly at contest, LOL! Make a mental note every time you hear that word that WE will pronounce it without an audible “r” sound, sort of like “wuhk,” but taller.
