Who Are We?

The National Honor Society (NHS) goes beyond recognizing students for their superior academic achievements. It provides schools with a values-based framework to elevate a culture of scholarship, service, leadership, and character by empowering, championing, and recognizing well-rounded students.

NHS chapters operate in all 50 states and numerous schools worldwide, engaging and serving over 1.4 million students. Each year, the average NHS chapter contributes:

• 1,000 hours of school/community service
• $26,000 in charitable donations
• 1,000 pounds of food to local, state, and national causes
• 100 pints of blood

Activities:

The local Pine Tree Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) proudly supports the community through volunteer activities with a variety of nonprofit organizations, such as The Art Alliance, Forest Festival, Junior League, Seasons of Hope, Hudson Youth Sports, and activities within Hudson ISD.

In addition to community service, the chapter actively raises funds to support student initiatives and hosts an annual teacher appreciation luncheon for the Hudson High School faculty.

As a reward for their dedication, seniors who fulfill their required service hours are eligible for a partially funded senior trip to a nearby amusement park—located within a four-hour drive.

Membership Requirements:

Students in grades 11-12 who have been enrolled in Hudson High School for one semester and who have a cumulative GPA of 4.50 are eligible to be considered for membership in the Pine Tree chapter of the National Honor Society. These academically eligible students, or candidates, are then evaluated based on the remaining criteria for membership:

Scholarship- GPA 4.5 or higher

Service- 10 hours of community service before application

Leadership – Leadership experiences can be drawn from community or school activities while working with or for others.

Character: The student of good character is cooperative; demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability; shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others and generally maintains a clean disciplinary record.

New members are inducted in a special ceremony during the fall of each year.  (November/ December)
